Bdo World Darts Betting
Lakeside Country Club is set to host the 40th edition of the BDO World Professional Darts Championship less than a week from today. Some of the best men and women in darts will take to the oche as they attempt to take down the biggest tournament of the year for BDO players.
Channel 4 will carry the 2017 World Championship live from Lakeside with the Men’s Final airing both on Channel 4 and BT Sport. The major darts betting sites will be taking wagers on the outright winner of the World Championship as well as bets on the outcome of each individual matchup as the tournament progresses through the rounds.
Where to Get the Best Odds on the BDO World Championship
The top seed for the BDO World Darts Championship, Wesley Harms, comes next in the betting at 9/1 with most books whilst popular two-time BDO world champion, Scott Waites, is getting a fair amount of support in the markets as usual at 10/1. If you’re planning on taking one of the outright bets, make sure to get your wagers in early. Once the tournament goes live, the bookmakers will close the outright markets until the first round is complete. It all gets underway starting Saturday, 7 January and will run through Sunday, 15 January.
Looking at the Five Betting Favourites
This year’s World Championship betting favourite is Glen Durrant, trading at odds just a little short of 2/1. Out of the three best bookmakers, William Hill is currently offering the best price on Durrant at 15/8.
Durrant enters as the No. 1 seed for the second year in a row. He came into last year’s tournament as the betting favourite and made it through the first two rounds without a hitch. Then in quarter-final, he ran into trouble against Scott Waites. Durrant fell to Waites, who would go on to claim the 2016 title. Now, Durrant will be looking to live up to his No. 1 seeding and claim his first World Championship title.
Young Dutchman Danny Noppert is priced as the second-favourite with odds right in the range of 5/1 depending on which betting sites you check. You’ll get the best odds on Danny Noppert at darts betting sites who have priced him at 6/1.
Noppert has yet to win a major international event, but he has already made a splash in the darts world with wins at the German Open, Scottish Open and several other events. He also recently gave Gary Anderson a run for his money at the 2016 Grand Slam of Darts. In that event, Noppert forced the match to a shootout that ultimately went the way of Anderson.
Bdo World Darts Betting
Defending champion Scott Waites comes in as this year’s third-favourite at a variety of prices ranging from 8/1 to 12/1. His best odds can be found at darts bookmakers where a winning wager on Waites will pay 12/1 on your money.
Scott Waites has won the BDO World Darts Championship twice in his career (2016 and 2013) and is the only BDO player to have a PDC Grand Slam of Darts victory to his name. In last year’s Championship, Scott entered as the No. 9 seed and went on to defeat Jeff Smith 7-1 in the final.
England’s own Jamie Hughes has been priced as high as 12/1 as the fourth-favourite to win it all this year. Hughes has had a productive couple of years recently with wins at the Antwerp Open, British Pentathlon, Jersey Classic, Swedish Open and more. His best results in major tournaments include making it to the semi-finals of the BDO World Championship in 2016, the final of the 2014 World Masters and winning the 2014 Zuiderduin Masters.
You’ll find the best odds on Jamie Hughes at William Hill who have priced him at 12/1.
And finally for our 5th seed, we have 2015 World Professional Championship winner Scott Mitchell. He had a breakout year in 2014 where he won numerous tournaments across Europe and made it to the quarter-final of the BDO World Trophy.
Mitchell continued his success the next year as he won another handful of tournaments, including the 2015 edition of the BDO World Championship. Mitchell is priced at 14/1 across the board at all the major darts bookmakers.
Barely has the excitement died down from the PDC World Championship Final at Alexandra Palace than we’re into the BDO World Championships.
There is a new venue for the less-exalted BDO version of the world title this year. The Lakeside at Frimley Green has been abandoned in favour of the Indigo at the O2 but organisers have sold only 15 per cent of the ticket allocation so that arena is going to sound very empty.
The lack of interest has led to worries that prize money, even at this late stage, may be greatly reduced with sponsors describing an association with the BDO as ‘toxic’. The BDO is very much the poor relation of the PDC and you can’t help thinking that the decision to move their world champonships away from the intimate surrounding of Lakeside could be a fatal error. However, the tour is still a stepping stone for players hoping to make their way in the PDC with Glenn Durant, the winner at Lakeside in the last three years, making the quarter-finals at Ally Pally recently.
However, the dramatic decrease in prize money has already lost this year’s tournament one of its big names. Fallon Sherrock, the odds-on favourite for the Ladies World Championship after her amazing run in the PDC World Championship, has withdrawn with the Ladies winner claiming just £8,000 this year compared to the £12,000 which Mikuru Suzuki received 12 months ago, despite previous claims that the prize fund would increase in 2020. The Men’s Prize Fund will take a sharp drop to £150,000 from £329,000.

Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams makes his return at the BDO World Darts Championship this year after surprisingly failing to qualify last year. But the three-times winner will face SCOTT WAITES in the first round.
Waites may be the 16th seed but he was the last player, before Durrant’s hat-trick, to win the BDO World Championship and was the losing finalist 12 months ago. The 42-year-old from Bradford looks well worth an interest at the general 10/1.
Current BDO number one Wesley Harms of the Netherlands will face either Andreas Harrysson or World Masters champion John O’Shea in the first round. Sparky was twice a losing semi-finalist at Lakeside and is also a best 10/1 with William Hill.
Bdo Darts Results
BDO World Trophy winner Jim Williams takes on Gary Stone in round one and is the current 7/2 favourite with most major online bookmakers. A semi-finalist last year, he’s bidding to become the fourth Welshman in history to win the BDO World Championship but is not yet in the same league as the likes of Leighton Rees and Richie Burnett.
Leighton Bennett is just 13 and will become the youngest player in BDO history to play in the Men’s World Championship when he faces Scott Mitchell. The teenager has already won the World Youth Championship this year and has been making waves across Europe since joining the senior tour. He’s only a best 20/1 to win the O2 tournament but is up against the 2015 winner in his first match – Mitchell is a general 12/1.
Richard Veenstra is a general 8/1 and the Dutchman was runner-up to Jim Williams in the BDO World Trophy earlier this year. However, he’s got a mixed record in the BDO World Championship and has twice gone out in the second round with thumping defeats.
